Writing (noun) is what you turn into ELMS. Writing (verb) is a quantifiable process and skill that can be improved with data.

This “course” is a free place for students to explore the writing process using quantitative tools (python, machine learning) to optimize it. Explore resources and connect with other writers and researchers interested in the nascent field of typing biometrics.

Research

This set of exercises is designed to contribute to the advancement of research in writing analytics, editing, and assessment.

It will take approximately 10 minutes.

Once enrolled, follow the directions until you are notified that you've completed the exercises which will consist of an acknowledgement, writing prompts, and several survey questions. You will recieve some immediate feedback and opt in for additional asynchronous feedback about the research and our findings.

In this fully online, asynchronous course, you will learn some of the basics about Artificial Intelligence tools, how to use them, and how to detect their use in your online courses and beyond.

Please note that this course was originally developed by Laura Otero of Cal State University Monterey Bay in Canvas LMS. It was converted to Moodle by Joseph Thibault of Cursive Technology. If you'd like to thank Laura for her amazing contribution, please don't hesitate to by emailing lotero@csumb.edu.

Generative AI is changing the game and detection tools are ineffective. This session will focus on tools and settings for Moodle to help ensure, promote, and protect academic integrity in the age of Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT.

We did a deep dive into the Moodle Plugin Database and documentation to find the tools and settings that help to protect your site and promote authentic learning. We'll discuss these, tools on the horizon, and other ways that you can thwart dishonest use of AI while helping teachers maintain the ability to properly assess classroom outcomes.

This presentation was given at the 2023 Mountain Moot on July 20th.

This course highlights aspects of the AIAS (AI Assessment Scale) and how some simple tools in Moodle (including Cursive) can help to measure the student side of those inputs, specifically in written assignments.

Description:

To work with APIs we will use the Postman app! Postman allows you to quickly create a request with the required HTTP method and parameters, set the body, headers, submit the request and easily inspect the results.

Postman can help if you are developing APIs as well! I have created this course for testing engineers and well for software developers. Postman can help you during the development of your API as well as after the API is completed, by running tests that make sure your API is still working as intended.

Postman has over 10 million users worldwide and continues to grow. This course will introduce you to Postman and is suited for beginners. You will learn how to build API requests with Postman, how to inspect responses debug any issues.

Postman has grown to be a complex tool that has many capabilities

So let’s look at what you are going to learn during the course:

  • Start with simple requests

  • Advance towards more complex scenarios

  • Upload files

  • Learn about REST

  • Work with real APIs

  • Learn to deal with authentication/authorization

So after this course, you will have an overview of Postman and can later decide in which areas you want to learn more.

Excited to learn about Postman? Sign-up up today!

Who this course is for:

  • Anyone who want to get started with APIs
  • Beginner developers who want to use APIs in their projects
  • QA engineers who want to learn how to use APIs
